The ARTOS AUDIO »THUNDER« is much more than a scaled down Hurricane!
Based on the outstanding properties of the closed Air-Flow-Cabinet-Construction that we designed for our reference-model, the »THUNDER« may be regarded unique compared to its size and their “easy-to-use” properties. The cabinet of the »THUNDER« has been split into two closed cabinets – each optimized for the frequency range it is used for. Two 9" ceramic woofers are housed in the lower part allowing a really deep and controlled bass response of down to 18Hz. As these woofers are cut off at a low frequency, another 7" ceramic woofer is used at the top of the upper part of the cabinet. The 7" ceramic midrange driver with additional “damping-ears” uses a huge Neodymium Magnet-System allowing a perfect and precise reproduction of human voices, string instruments and other dynamic mid-frequencies. At the lower end of the upper cabinet is a 1.20" ceramic CELL-Concept Tweeter responsible for crystal clear highs and a perfect imaging of the musical event. The advantage of the closed cabinet together with the placement of the individual drivers is the perfect and equal coupling of the speaker to the listening room. A »THUNDER« can be set up easily in even small listening rooms of 20m².
The »THUNDER CELL DIAMOND« is made for just those music lovers, looking for nothing but the best. – while not being able to set-up a Hurricane. The main differences are:
1. The Black-Diamond-Tweeter
The extremely low weight and the unsurpassed stiffness of the Black-Diamond membrane enable a nearly linear frequency-response of up to 100kHz.
2. The Crossover
While some manufacturers simply change the tweeter (Black Diamond instead of ceramic), the »MIRAGE DIAMOND« uses a completely new designed crossover with different parts and additional circuits.
3. The internal wiring
While the Mirage uses a PCOCC internal wiring system, the »MIRAGE DIAMOND« takes advantage of the Silver-Gold-OCC wiring system that was originally designed for our reference model Hurricane.
